In an interview with Game Informer Alan Pritchard said that there will be two or three big Sonic announcements in the early part of next year. One of them is probably Sonic 4 episode 2, but what about these other ones? I'm personally hoping for a game like this. www.vgboxart.com/view/9783/tails.and.cosmo/?replies=25Any thoughts?

The Tails and Cosmo game is extremely unlikely. A game based on "Taismo so kawaii ^-^" will never work out.
If you think about it, Sonic's 20th anniversary is next year. It's gonna be something big, you can be sure of that.

I personally like the Taismo Game Project (that I officially just made up) but I think you're right. The game on the website doesn't look like a game that could exist. It would have to be a Sonic game that had Cosmo in it, unless they made another Tails Adventure where you have to save Cosmo from the evil mans.
Also, I hope Sega doesn't copy Namco and make their big anniversary title a party game.(even though that probably won't happen) Maybe it'll be another Sonic Adventure.

If anything, I'd want it to be one with the metarex in it.
Also I'd want it to have awesome first person shooting action with awesome combat and physics like in Unreal Tournament, Half Life, Halo, Gears of War, Mass Effect, and other games of that sort, mainly since the Metarex are a lot like the aliens in most of those games. Also it would have to have extremely realistic action and a huge assortment of cool and unique weapons, vehicles, and equipment, and also a great online multiplayer mode.

also, not to be rude or anything, but that boxart looks disturbing to me...
The fact that Tails is carrying her there (I blame Japan for that) + all the hearts + "EVERYONE ICON" = bad things. I'm just saying it looks... weird.
And yes, I'm looking forward to those big announcements, Sonic's 20th birthday has to mean something big.

Personally, I'd prefer a more Zelda-like approach. Give Tails a sword and some bombs and maybe some type of musical instrument. I don't think it would be the kind of game the Metarex would fit in.

I still think the First Person Shooter would be better for the Metarex.
I mean like it would look awful if those foot soldiers, nagas, and stuff were like waling around aimlessly or acting like enemies in those games, for they look too serious and intimidating for that, and the Metarex use Covenant-style vehicles and weapons of that sort.
It would fit better for me of those metarex were like realistically in the game doing things like taking cover and shooting at you with pusle rifles and stuff, lobbing grenades and sniper camping, and the like in those types of FPS games. You would also fight the bigger ones in huge boss battle styled like in games such as Vanquish, Metroid Prime, and Resistance. I honestly don't think it would look good if them Metarex were fighting you in the style of a Zelda type game, but moe of you taking control of a character like Molly, Deimos, Sonic, Shadow, or even Chris, and using a huge assortment of weapons and stuff to fight them like in Unreal Tournament, Halo, Gears of War, Half-Life and the like. It would be so cool to be taking on hordes of them by doing stuff like sniping them while they are in cover and least expect it, or performing execution moves on them, or jakcing one of thier vehicles and then front ending him with it and stuff. Althugh that's just me talking, but this would be the best Sonic game ever if it came out.

I'd have to disagree personally.
The term "Jumped the Shark" comes to mind... Also, it sounds too serious.

If it helps, I'll tyr to provide a better example of the type of sonic game I really really want to see.
First watch this Youtube video
Now try to picture the same thing, but the Metarex Foto Soldiers, Nagas, Majors, and the like replacing all of the infantry type enemies, and the larger ones being things like Voltnids, Met-T-Rexes, and the like, and the vehicles and weapons being there types of vehicles/weapons and stuff. Also picture the ain character being someone like Sonic, Molly, Deimos, Chris, or someone like that. Maybe the setting could also be a world like Marmolim or Farris Massa or something along those lines. That's what I am looking for. I feel a Sonic game featuring the Metarex (which I want to see), would be like this since the Metarex are so similar in soliders, technology, planets they attacked, and stuff, and are way too intimidating to be waliing around aimlessly to be like Homing Attack Targets and stuff. This would be an epic win.

Yeah...I'm still gonna say Jumping the Shark. And not in a good way either.
Sonic just shouldn't be a Shooter game. It's like making COD a super cute platformer that plays a song teaching the alphabet. It just doesn't work.
And (In my opinion.) every time Sonic was trying to go all serious failed. That's why people love Colours. It's not to be taken seriously.

Then how come I still see a whole lot of fancomics, fanfics, and stuff about Sonic that has serious shooter stuff to them? I think the answer is because it works good. Shadow and Sonic 2006 just missed some of the things that make good shooters, and I still thought they were epic wins though. They didn't have the things that would make it real good, like an awesome online multiplayer mode that really fun to play, good weapons like Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Hand Grenades etc, ability to keep more than one weapon and switch between them. Enemy AI that is less predictable and more realistic, better physics like ragdolls for the death animations and better explosions, cooler vehicles, executions or vehicle jacks, and the like. They would've been extremely awesome if they only included those things.
And besides, Star fox has cute talking animals in it, and it also has serious-ness and shooters to it, and it is still good for that, so why not Sonic? It could maybe be made less violent just by removing all the blood, and leaving most of the rest the same. And besides, it has stuff like lives at stake and other big time things most times. Plus as I said before, the Metarex are too intimidating for that, they are ruthless killers and a race of heavily advanced, near-omnipotent, organism/machine hybrids who wish to impose order to evolution throughout many worlds by wiping out entire alien races and making their homeworlds uninhabitable, and the majority of them look like something that would appear in a Metroid or Half-Life game of some sort, and therefore should go into a shooter category.

It's because they're writing for the fun of it and they don't see it as a Sonic thing. They just see it as a stories with Sonic characters. Star Fox is different. It was always a Space-shooter. It's not something to be taken seriously.
Secondly, shooter has been done before. It was called Shadow the Hedgehog and it wasn't that good. In fact in my view it was godawful.
And, to be both a tad trollish and my view, the Metarex are uninteresting.
Think like a regular FPS fan: You play a lotta games with an alien antagonist that tries to take over and/or destroy the Universe. And you see this. What makes this different from these other Space FPSs that have this sorta stuff. Apart from it having Sonic trying to cobble together and maybe shred it's dignity if it has any left.
