R2-D2's memory bank was never really wiped out I think. Because, if you ever really paid attention to it all, R2 was always seemed to know more than his, higher intellectual, friend C-3PO. Like me at times, it seemed as if he was playing everybody as pieces in a game of chess, catalyzing events, and slowing events, to make everyone stop fighting, and for Luke to realize the truth. In my mind, R2-D2 is one of the most important people in the story of STAR WARS, and I really never believed him to have had his memory wiped.
Though, Galaxina, I really don't think that just throwing other examples of events in other stories really has much to do with episode 76. The people who made it may have had their own event, one that was fresh and original that none of us could comprehend by relating it to other movies... Just saying...

All I am trying to say is that Cosmo never really saw her sisters die and only assumed it, but that doesn't mean she is right. And it just can't have happened, or her kind would go extinct. These are just examples I am using to help explain why. Next is another one. In Bionicle 2, legends of Metru nui the movie, at first the Toa Metru thought Toa Lhikan was killed by Nidhiki, but really he used the last of his power to rescue these matoran and had only weakened down into Turaga Lhikan.

I found out the real answer to your question. Here is the direct quote from the episode that proves it.
Quotes [Amy: "I won't let you die here... We're definately going to return back to everyone and our planet!"
Sonic: "They..." (Koitsu ha...)
Amy: "It's our world's Planet Egg!"
Everyone: "Sonic!"]
So basically, the planet egg from Sonic's World saved them.

What saved sonic and amy from dark oak when amy wanted to save sonic and jump into the watery planet and then suddenly like a bubble appear and they were floating. Amy stare at sonic hand and too does he.It look like sonic wounds is slowly vanish.I still dont get it why this is happening? I thought the planet was called The Forest of Life, or am I getting this from another anime? (Oh snap sticks!) Either the planet eggs or something not released in the English Dub that could have explain. I already thought Chaos was bad enough to understand.
